Water in Africa Through Everyday Responsiveness
W.A.T.E.R.

In 2006 and 2007 St. John Vianney Parish in Kirkland had two groups visit Ghana. Working with W.A.T.E.R.,

In 2006, in collaboration with CRS (and local communities in Ghana), St. John Vianney Parish financed a large mechanized borehole water system in Savelugu, Northern Region.

In 2007, Mary Queen of Peace, Sammamish joined with St. John Vianney in Kirkland to finance drillings in 7 villages. Hosted by CRS Tamale, they visited 4 villages which had the water systems successfully in place. Three other villages got water on the second attempt.

Habitat

St. John Vianney worked with Habitat in Kumasi, in the Ashanti Region. In 2006 they were placed in the community of Nkwantkese. In 2007 they were placed with the same community, finding great joy as the worked with the same foreman and some of the same women as in 2006.

Childcare Foundation in Accra

Childcare Foundation in Accra is a small non profit brings the gravel pit children (who break stones into gravel each day) to a pre formal school classroom and prepares them for regular school. The foundation then (with our help) sends selected children to local private schools where they receive full schooling. This year St. John Vianney funded 20 children. 2006 2 were supported and one of those is now #1 student in Science in the school.
